Afrobeats singer Charles Chibueze Chukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has paid a touching tribute to his late mother, Evelyn Chukwu.
This is on what would have been her birthday following her sudden passing in July 2025.

The Mavin Records artiste shared the emotional moment on X
He reveals that he shaved his hair in line with family tradition.
This is a symbolic act of honour reserved for a first son.
According to Crayon, the gesture was a sign of deep love, respect, and reverence for his late mother.
Posting before-and-after photos of his freshly shorn head, the singer wrote, “Happy heavenly birthday mum. Today as your first son and as tradition requires, I cut my hair. I hope it shows how much I love, respect and adore you mum. I miss you every day — my everything. Words can’t explain how hard today is. It hasn’t been easy navigating this world without you. I promise to make you proud mum. Till we meet again. I love you mum, Evelyn Chukwu.”
Evelyn Chukwu passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2025, just days before Crayon’s birthday .
This is loss the singer previously described as “the darkest day of my life.”
In earlier tributes, Crayon praised his mother as his backbone, soldier, angel, and pillar.
He acknowledges her sacrifices and unwavering support during difficult years before his breakthrough in the music industry.
