The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has dismissed circulating rumours claiming that veteran Yoruba actor and cultural icon, Chief Lere Paimo, has passed away.
In an official statement released on Saturday and signed by the National PRO, Adejonwo Oluwafemi, the association confirmed that the celebrated thespian Lere Paimo is very much alive.
According to the statement,
“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false. We have confirmed with his wife that he is alive and in good health.”
ANTP condemned those responsible for spreading the false reports, describing them as individuals acting with malicious intent.

The association also appealed to the public to prioritise fact-checking before disseminating unverified claims.
“We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation,” the statement added.
