He collaborated with acclaimed directors including Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Gus Van Sant, and Lars von Trier.

Raised in post-war poverty, he worked in a factory as a teenager before being discovered in London, leading to his breakthrough role in Mark of the Devil (1970).
His career was marked by fortuitous encounters.
A chance meeting with director Paul Morrissey on a flight secured him starring roles in Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) and Blood for Dracula (1974).
Udo Kier’s friendship with Fassbinder earned him roles in Lola, The Stationmaster’s Wife, and the acclaimed series Berlin Alexanderplatz.
