In the nation’s capital, stories of kidnap is becoming a daily tale. Security operatives and the rulers are watching their back, not knowing who is next.

Before now, people were scared of visiting the North, as the insecurity was rising from that end.

But now, as we speak, every part of the country seems to be affected. Not even the nation’s capital, Abuja, is exempted from kidnap cases.

A few months ago, Abuja was a peaceful city that virtually every Nigerian desired to live in or visit. But in a twinkle of an eye the nation’s heart is getting invaded by kidnappers, turning the city to a nightmare.

People are now fleeing from it and foreign nations may soon declare it a high-risk-zone.

All Eyes On Wike

Suspicions are rising, as Nigerians try to figure out the root cause of this Abuja kidnap issue.

Some people suspect that Wike’s emergence as the FCT Minister may have angered some people and they have decided to sponsor the attack, unleashing havoc on the city.

Accusing fingers have also been pointed at Fubara, Wike’s successor in Rivers State.

Some described the attack as his revenge against Wike.

Several arrest has been made, but yet, this deadly terrorists are not slowing down.

Fresh Attack

Now, a Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), identified as Aondo Ver, has been kidnapped.

He was abducted from his home by gunmen.

The incident happened around 12.30 a.m. on Thursday about 200 metres close to a military base in Pambara in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

The bandits shot indiscriminately, causing panic in the area, before escaping through the bushes with the abductee.

Some residents of the area said military personnel were stationed at a military base popularly known as ‘camp’.

This base is close to where the director was abducted in Pambara Extension.

They further noted that residents of the area that were attacked by bandits include military personnel, both serving and retired, and then, civilians.

A source said: “Bandits attacked Pambara Extension over the night, at about 12:30 a.m. today (Thursday).

They abducted one of our neighbours, Mr Aondo Ver, who is a Director in Federal Housing Authority, FCT.

“The attack happened very close to a ‘camp,’ the military base at the entrance of Bwari very close to Pambara Extension.

“The part of Pambara Extension where Mr Ver was kidnapped is just about 200 metres away from the military base.
But the kidnappers escaped through the bushes with the victim”.

Another resident added that “the attack is still shocking to us.

“Our estate is very close to the military base here, known as ‘camp’ at the entrance of Bwari.

There are also serving and retired military personnel living with us here, yet these bandits were bold enough to attack this place and kidnap Mr Ver”.

Fear is building up. Death has already been recorded days after several members od a family were kidnapped in the dame Abuja.

The city people thought was so safe, is increasingly becoming a place foreigners will give a second thought to as a result of insecurity.
