If the court grants a common man bail and he is unable to perfect the bail it is understandable.

But you would not expect a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to experience the same fate.

Court Granted Emefiele Seven Days Agos

On November 22, 2023, Justice Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory granted Emefiele bail.

Muazu ordered that Emefiele produce two sureties who must have landed properties in the Maitama District of the FCT.

Emefiele was being remanded at Kuje Prison on the day the bail conditions were handed down to him.

But days after that declaration by the court, a lawyer with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedep (SAN), said Emefiele was yet to perfect his bail conditions.

As a result, he has remained in prison.

Emefiele’s lawyer, Mathew Burkaa, SAN, admitted that his client was still in prison and that his team was making efforts to perfect the bail conditions.

Burkaa said that the knotty issue is getting two sureties with landed properties in the Maitama District of Abuja.

So, where are his cronies right now? Those he gave contracts to and those who benefited from his policies?
