What Is BBL?

BBL is a specialised fat transfer procedure in which excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks.

The procedure augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants.

The major risk of this procedure is fat embolism.

In a fat embolism, an embolus is a foreign object in the bloodstream.

This simply means fat in the bloodstream.

Some of the very small chunks of transferred fat find their way into the blood vessels.

They are then transferred to the right side of the heart, where they are pumped to the lungs.

The Dangers Of BBL

In the lungs, it impedes efficient gaseous exchange and distorts the normal process through which your lungs give your blood needed oxygen and wash off carbon dioxide (IV oxide).

Such a person may experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, dizziness, fast breathing, weakness and more.

Without intervention, it eventually damages the lungs and leads to death in 10% of cases.

Only 1% of women who have BBL will develop a fat embolism, but in the hands of an inexperienced surgeon, this percentage can rapidly increase.

The death of the young student sparked reactions online, as some are of the opinion that she caused her own death.

Others who think different shared reasons youths should be comfortable in their bodies without bowing to external pressure or seeking validation from their peers.
