While Nigerians continue to fault the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for uploading the results of the Saturday’s Presidential poll four days after collation, some of our findings regarding the uploads may interest you.
Up till this moment, INEC is yet to explain to Nigerians why results upload for the presidential election is still on four days after collation.
Numerous questions are still left unanswered in the minds of people.
Political parties who lost the election have accused INEC of rigging the election. It is a position that the court will have to adjudicate when it comes before it.Â
Highest Bidder
Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo earlier accused INEC of selling the presidential election to the highest bidder.
He claimed the commission’s Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, was responsible for the purported malpractice that marred the electoral process.
Kanayo insists that Nigerians should question the INEC Chairman on his failure to transmit results from the polling booth and the reason for compromising his earlier decision.
The actor said: “INEC deceived Nigerians and sold the election to the highest bidder and those who lost should approach the court”.
Results Upload
Also, during the collation of results at the National Collation Centre in Abuja, the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye, asked the Chairman of INEC to transmit the election results as stipulated in the Electoral Act that was amended.
Nigerians, other party agents had immediately supported the motion by Melaye, saying ‘it is the only way INEC can prove the transparency and credibility of the electoral process’.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu had countered the motion, stating that time does not permit the upload to be done during the collation.
However, a day after declaring the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu as the President-elect and even handing him the certificate of return, INEC is still uploading the results.
Our Findings
While INEC struggles with the results upload for the presidential election, here are some findings that you may find helpful.
When compared, most uploaded results on INEC’s website tally with what was announced at the collation centre.

The uploaded results also match results gathered from some polling units.
Results in some polling units monitored by iBrand observers show that the figures are the same.
Our correspondent, at ‘Junction of Oye Elegunde/Taiwo St. Beckley Estate A/ Egba in Ifako-Ijaye LGA gave the following statistics from the polling unit.
In that polling unit in Beckley Estate Ojokoro, 182 voters were accredited.

However, a quick check on the INEC website revealed that the results were not there yet.
The recording of election materials ran into the night in that polling unit and after several tries to upload the result, the agents took pictures of the record book.
The consistency of the newly uploaded results has further raised confusion among Nigerians.

Some are insisting that the days are enough for INEC to perfect figures and make them tally.
Many Nigerians only hope that political party agents and monitoring teams have enough evidence to push their claims in court.
