Surulere 1 federal constituency was formerly represented by Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who resigned after he was appointed as Tinubu ‘s chief of staff.

His resignation created a representation vacancy in the Federal House of Representative.

Which is why INEC is currently conducting a bye-election in the federal constituency.

The vacant seat is been keenly contested by Fuad Laguda of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
