The Independent National Electoral Commission has been given the opportunity to once again launder it image with the bye-elections.

Resident of the Surulere 1 federal constituency will be hoping that in this election there will be no day light robbery of any sort.

The much anticipated day to choose a representative for Surulere 1 federal constituency has arrived.

As expected the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has begun accrediting registered voters.

The process which began as early as 7 am, on Saturday morning has thus far not really witnessed much turn out.


Surulere 1 federal constituency was formerly represented by Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who resigned after he was appointed as Tinubu ‘s chief of staff.

His resignation created a representation vacancy in the Federal House of Representative.

Which is why INEC is currently conducting a bye-election in the federal constituency.

The vacant seat is been keenly contested by Fuad Laguda of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Adeola Adebanjo of the Labour Party (LP), and Jerry Afemighie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


Gbajabiamila has represented Surulere 1 federal constituency in the house of Representative for the past 16 years.
