When the Nigeria Customs Service decided to sell some bags of rice, they meant well, but trouble was lurking around.

It is sad that the hardship Nigerians are facing now could make people lose their lives.

Sadly, they were just trying their best to get their daily bread in hard times.

Now, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is mourning one of its members, Comfort Adebanjo, and six other Nigerians who died during a stampede at the Nigeria Customs office in Yaba, Lagos, while attempting to buy rice seized by customs.

The Customs had on Friday commenced the sale of seized food items, including bags of rice, to Nigerians to cushion the effect of the economic hardship.
