NiMet has warned Nigerians to expect dust haze, sunshine, and scattered thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday.

NiMet Issues Weather Alert
Consequently, people should anticipate reduced visibility in several areas, which could affect health, travel, and safety.
Northern And Central Skies
In the north, dust haze will cover Kebbi and Kano on Monday, reducing visibility to 2–5km.
Meanwhile, other northern states will experience sunny skies with light haze throughout the forecast period.
By Tuesday, the dust haze may ease slightly but will remain over parts of Kano and Kebbi.
In central Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State will experience moderate haze on Monday.
At the same time, the remaining central states will enjoy sunny skies with occasional light haze.

Furthermore, Plateau State could see isolated thunderstorms during the afternoons and evenings, especially on Tuesday.
Southern Showers And Safety Tips
In the south, sunny skies will dominate, although afternoon and evening thunderstorms with light rain may occur.
Therefore, residents in Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Rivers, Delta, and Oyo should prepare.
NiMet emphasised that suspended dust particles can irritate airways and worsen asthma or other respiratory conditions.
Similarly, motorists should drive carefully during rain, and airline operators must consult airport-specific weather updates.
Dust haze happens when wind carries fine desert particles, often from the Sahara, into the atmosphere.
These particles can reduce visibility to less than 1km and pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups.
Finally, NiMet urged Nigerians to stay updated, follow regular forecasts, and visit its website at www.nimet.gov.ng.
