Controversial Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded in custody following his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on Monday, January 12, 2026.

The musician was slammed with a nine-count criminal charge bordering on assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest, according to the Ogun State Police Command.
Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that the case stemmed from a complaint filed by Portable’s estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, which later escalated into a full criminal investigation.
The arraignment came a day after a viral video surfaced online showing the singer in police custody.
Prosecutors alleged that Portable assaulted Ashabi, several police officers, and other individuals at his bar located in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day.
Among those listed as alleged victims are Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at ₦12 million, allegedly belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and reportedly purchased from Wally Dex Auto.
In court, two siblings of Ashabi Simple reportedly testified as witnesses to the alleged assault.
However, Ashabi herself was absent from the proceedings.
Further allegations revealed that Portable allegedly obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
During the bail application, the presiding judge refused to grant Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. The judge ruled that the officer must appear before bail can be considered.
As a result, Portable was remanded in custody, with the court fixing January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
