Global Recognition At The Emmy

The Emmy Awards organisers have invited Femi Odugbemi to serve as a juror, placing him among an international panel responsible for evaluating outstanding television productions from across the world.

This appointment reflects his long-standing work in film and television storytelling.

Experience Built Across African Film

Previously, he built strong experience in this area through his work with the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

He served multiple times as Head Judge, including the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth editions, where he helped guide decisions on some of the most celebrated African screen productions.

A Platform For Documentary Storytelling

Meanwhile, Odugbemi will take up his new role at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026.

He confirmed his participation and expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity.

He said, “Delighted to have joined this year’s International Emmy Awards competition as a juror.

Always inspiring to engage with powerful storytelling on television from across the world.

Always an honour to contribute to celebrating the very best of our global creative community.”

In addition to his work in award panels, Odugbemi has actively shaped documentary filmmaking in Nigeria.

In 2010, he co-founded the i-Represent International Documentary Film Festival (iREP) alongside Jahman Anikulapo and Makin Soyinka, creating a platform that promotes documentary storytelling and critical dialogue.

As a result, his career continues to reflect steady influence, moving from national impact to continental leadership, and now to a role within global television evaluation.
