Nigerian singer Jaywon has weighed in on the ongoing debate about the influence of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, saying that true music success is not measured by numbers but by impact.

Speaking on the issue, Jaywon said many young people today believe music is all about streaming numbers, strong public relations, awards, and having money to promote songs.
He argued that this mindset misses the true purpose of music.
According to the singer, good music is music that makes an impact, changes lives, and touches people’s souls.
He explained that lasting music goes beyond charts and trends.
Jaywon added that this is why legendary musicians like Bob Marley and Fela Anikulapo Kuti are still celebrated today.
Their songs, he said, carried strong messages and have continued to inspire people long after their deaths.
