Popular Nigerian comedienne and skit maker, Taaooma, has raised alarm over the growing problem of illegal waste disposal on roads across Lagos State.
In a video shared on her social media page, Taaooma drew attention to heaps of refuse dumped on the road median in the Ikotun–Ejigbo–Egbeda axis, while residents continued their daily activities as if nothing was amiss.

Concerned by the situation, she tagged relevant authorities including the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
Also, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, urging them to urgently address the issue.
“What’s happening in the Ikotun/Ejigbo/Egbeda axis like this?” she wrote. “@Lawma_gov @LasepaOfficial kindly help look into this @tokunbo_wahab.”
Her post quickly sparked reactions from social media users, many of whom claimed the problem is widespread across Lagos.
Several commenters cited areas such as Shomolu, Mushin, Ketu, Oshodi, Surulere, and Yaba as facing similar challenges.
One user argues that government response has normalised the behaviour.
“Almost everywhere in Lagos, people dump refuse on road medians. Instead of sanctioning offenders, trucks are sent to pick up the refuse. By doing this, the government has unintentionally created a system people now see as normal,” the user wrote.
