Davido Music Ownership Plans

During an appearance on The Long Form podcast, he explained that he plans to buy back his music masters from Sony Music before he eventually retires from the industry.

Control Of Music Catalogue

He said his current deal performs well and offers fairness, but he believes true power in music comes from owning one’s catalogue.

For him, that ownership remains a key priority despite his success.

Furthermore, Davido noted that reclaiming his masters would give him full control of his songs and allow him to decide how people use them in the future.

In addition, he said this step would let him pass parts of his musical work on to his children when he leaves the stage.

He said, “I have a good music contract.

But the most important thing is ownership.

I plan to get my master’s back. With that, I can give each of my kids songs even after I retire.”

Finally, he encouraged artists to treat music as both art and business, stressing that they must understand contracts and ownership to achieve long-term success.
