Popular Nigerian social critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkman (VDM), has weighed in on Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, asserting that the “only solution” to terrorism is widespread education in the northern region.

VeryDarkMan blamed the persistent insecurity on low literacy levels.
He claimed that most individuals involved in terrorism are uneducated youths from the North.
argued that investing heavily in education would pull young men away from the forests.
VDM added that it would also reduce their vulnerability to criminal recruitment.
According to him, any Nigerian leader who devotes at least four years of an eight-year tenure to prioritizing compulsory education in the North would significantly curb terrorism.
He said: “The only solution to terrorism is to educate the Northerners.”
“Any Nigerian leader that will take four years out of his eight years to educate the North, force education on them, has solved terrorism problems.”
“Knowledge is power. They don’t go to school in the North; rather they study religion.”
“That is why a few educated individuals use the uneducated as weapons.”
VDM added that poverty and lack of opportunities leave many young people vulnerable.
“If you go to the North, you see a lot of young people in the streets begging.”
“You can easily pack ten thousand of them and bring them to Abuja,” he said, warning that Nigeria may face deeper security challenges if the issue is not addressed.
