The race for 2027 is beginning to take shape in Lagos.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the names of candidates who will represent the party in the upcoming House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly elections following the completion of its internal primaries.

The announcement signals the beginning of what could become one of the most competitive political seasons in the state.
APC Publishes Official Candidate List
The list was released through a public notice issued on Monday and signed by the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi.
According to the party, a total of 24 candidates emerged for the House of Representatives, while 40 candidates secured tickets for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
But beyond the numbers, the names emerging from the primaries reveal where influence, continuity, and fresh political calculations may be shaping the party’s strategy.
Obasa, Faleke And Benson Lead Key House Of Representatives Tickets
Among the biggest names on the House of Representatives list is Mudashiru Obasa, who secured the APC ticket for Agege Federal Constituency.
Also returning to the spotlight is James Abiodun Faleke, who clinched the ticket for Ikeja Federal Constituency.
In Ikorodu, Babajimi Benson also emerged as the party’s candidate.
One development that quickly drew attention was in Alimosho.
Olabisi Adebanjo emerged as the party’s candidate and became the only woman among the 24 House of Representatives candidates announced by APC.
House Of Assembly Primaries Produce Familiar Faces And New Entrants
The House of Assembly list also delivered a mix of established politicians and emerging names.
Among the notable outcomes, incumbent Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda secured the ticket for Apapa Constituency I.
In Surulere, Barakat Bakare-Odunuga emerged victorious and displaced incumbent lawmaker Desmond Elliott in Surulere I.
Another name generating attention is Damilola Ayinde-Marshall, daughter of King Ayinde Wasiu, who secured the party ticket for Surulere II.

Several other aspirants also secured tickets across the state.
They include:
Saheed Bankole — Eti-Osa I
Gbolahan Yishawu — Eti-Osa II
Oladipo Olayinka Ajomale — Oshodi-Isolo I
Mayowa Alakija — Oshodi-Isolo II
Ikorodu also produced:
Toyin Gafar — Ikorodu I
Moshood Aro — Ikorodu II
Additional winners include:
Orekoya Abiodun — Somolu I
Moruf Alli-Balogun — Somolu II
Temitope Adewale — Ifako-Ijaiye I
Rasheed Lanre Makinde — Ifako-Ijaiye II
Primaries May Be Over, But Internal Battles Are Not
Despite the release of the candidate list, the process is not completely settled.
As of the latest update, the Appeals Committee established by the party to handle disputes and grievances from the primaries was still reviewing petitions submitted by aggrieved aspirants.

That means while some politicians are celebrating victories today, others are still fighting to keep their political ambitions alive.
