Nigerian comedian Destalker has opened up about a dark phase in his past, revealing that he once attempted internet fraud before finding his true calling in comedy.

Speaking during an episode of the In-house Gist podcast, the comedian disclosed that he ventured into cybercrime while living in Enugu but failed at it because of his kind nature.
“Before I left Enugu, I tried internet fraud with one of my friends who is now a pastor, but I wasn’t successful at it.”
“Then, we would book night sessions at cyber cafés for ₦250. I couldn’t afford it, so my friend always paid for me.”
“He is now a big pastor, Rev. Nelson Umeh,” Destalker recounted.
He added that while his friend was busy looking for victims online, he spent his time chatting with family and old schoolmates on Facebook.”
“There is no need for overspending when you are on the wrong lane.”
“But today, it’s a changed story because internet fraud was not my destiny.”
“I can’t defraud anyone because I am kindhearted,” he said.
Destalker also reflected on his journey in the entertainment industry, noting that some comedians once tried to hinder his progress.
“Some comedians said without them I would not perform at certain shows, but I told them I would blow even without performing there and I did.”
“Some of those shows are now extinct, and those comedians are no longer relevant,” he added confidently.
