Legendary Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has described his hit track African Queen as the song that gave his career a major spark, while also admitting it has become a burden despite its huge benefits.

Speaking on an episode of the Entertainment & Lifestyle show, the award-winning artiste said, “African Queen has been a very huge blessing, and e come turn to problem join for me.
But I am grateful for everything.”
Released in 2004, African Queen catapulted 2Face to international fame, making him the first African artiste to win the BET, MTV Europe, and MOBO awards.
However, the song has long been trailed by controversy, with his former bandmate, Blackface, repeatedly claiming ownership of the track.
2Face had earlier clarified that the song was originally a collaboration with his former group members but denied stealing it.
The decades-long debate over the song’s authorship resurfaced recently after Billboard named African Queen the “Greatest Afrobeats Song of All Time” in August 2025.
