It was an emotional night for Vietnamese-American actor Ke Huy Quan, who got an award for the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2023 Oscars.

In his emotional speech, the actor hailed his 84-year-old mother as he tearfully told the story of how his journey started on a boat before he moved to a refugee camp.

He said: “My mom is 84 years old, and she’s watching me right now. Mom, I just won an Oscar!”.

Quan kissed the gold plaque award twice and cried out in an emotional outburst.

“My journey started on a boat.

“I spent a year in a refugee camp, and somehow I ended up here on Hollywood’s biggest stage.

“They say stories like this only happen in the movies. I cannot believe this is happening to me.

“This is the American dream! Thank you so much for this honour of a lifetime.”

He thanked his family and friends for their support so far while urging everyone watching him not to give up on their dreams like he almost did.

The joyous award winner went ahead to thank his lovely wife for encouraging and believing in him for twenty years.

Quan won the award at the Oscars for his role in the movie “Everything, Everywhere, At Once.”
