If Christiana Erekere had known that being on duty on Thursday would cost her life, perhaps, she would have stayed home.
A policewoman in Rivers State, Nigeria was gruesomely murdered in the line of duty.
The Rivers State police have arrested 16 suspects in connection with the murder of Inspector Christiana Erekere on Thursday.
According to SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police spokesperson in the state, on Monday, Erekere was killed while manning a checkpoint in Port Harcourt.
Routine Checks
“She was killed following an altercation with a group of individuals travelling in a Lexus saloon car.
“The occupants of the car were stopped for routine checks in front of Bori Police Station.
“After the occupants of the vehicle were stopped, they became agitated and proceeded to barricade the road, disrupting the flow of traffic.’’
However, following the completion of checks on the vehicle, officers on duty asked the occupants to vacate the road.
“Unfortunately, they refused to vacate the road, claiming that Erekere had recorded a video of their disruptive behaviour using her mobile phone.
