President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has lifted all Ebola-related movement restrictions saying the country has improved in its effort to battle the virus.

The president lifted restrictions on the disease’s epicenter in the district of Mubende and Kassanda region.

Mubende has recorded 66 cases of the Ebola Virus and 29 deaths, and the Kassanda region has also 49 cases and 21 deaths.

“Currently, there is no transmission, no contact under follow-up, no patients in the isolation facilities, and we are progressing well with the countdown,” President Museveni said in a statement.

The Outbreak of the Sudan strain of The virus was confirmed in Uganda in September.

The country imposed restrictions on places of worship and entertainment in October and an overnight curfew was put in place.

Schools in the country had also closed for the year, in November to battle the spread of the virus.
