The verification badges of Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and others have been impacted by Twitter’s blue tick removal tsunami.
Prior deadlines for the rollback of the ticks, which were mostly utilised by celebrities, journalists, and politicians, have passed without any obvious action.
The blue tick has vanished, according to a late-Thursday check of the Twitter handles for presidential candidates of the Labour Party, All Progressives Congress, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The only way to get the blue tick back is if you comply with Twitter’s new policy for the verification badge.
Twitter had said that from April the blue tick will attract a payment of at least $8 a month to keep that verified status.
Otherwise, people can only identify the original account of anyone by the number of followers it had gathered.
