PDP’s Ayu, Okowa To Lead Protest At INEC Headquarters

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it will on Monday hold a protests against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the presidential election. 

According to the party, the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, will lead the protest.

It will hold at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

The protest was announced on Sunday via a notice by the spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Ibrahim Bashir.

He says, the protest is to reject the result of the presidential election.

The PDP also call on its members to join the protest.

The protest will take off from the party’s headquarters, Legacy House in the Maitama area of Abuja by 10:0AM.

According to the party, all members will come for the protest in black clothes.

The notice reads: “I am directed to respectfully invite Your Excellencies: The National Chairman, Dr Iyrochia Ayu, The Vice Presidential Candidate and Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, Governors of; Akwa Ibom and Chairman of PCC, Mr Udom Emmanuel and Sokoto state and DG of PCC, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal”.

Others in the statement are Governors of Bayelsa, Edo, Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba and Osun States; Former Senate Presidents, Senator David Mark and Senator Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, BOT members and NEC members.

Also in the list are the PDP Senators and House of Representatives Members, NWC members of the party, DDGs, Directors, Deputies and Assistant Directors of NCMC; Members of the PCC; Leadership of People Living With Disabilities and all other Stakeholders to a protest match to INEC Office.”

Tinubu’s Victory

Meanwhile, Nigerians, stakeholders and political parties are still in disagreement with the declaration of the Presidential election.

INEC’s had declared that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, was he winner.

Prior to the declaration, some party agents had staged a walkout during the collation of results at the National Collation Centre, Abuja.

According to the INEC, Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who had 6,984,520 votes.

Also, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) polled 6,101,533 votes.

After the declaration, the PDP rejected the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect, claiming its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, won the election.
