Videos capturing the moment the remains of the former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, arrived in the state ahead of his funeral rites and burial have been spreading online.
The late governor died on December 26, 2023, in a German hospital at the age of 68 after a battle with prostate cancer.
Not many politicians are mourned the way Akeredolu has been mourned. This goes a long way to prove that in his lifetime, the former governor may have lived up to the expectations of many.
The Funeral RitesÂ
His remains were brought to the state on Wednesday in line with the stipulated burial arrangement published by the family.

The funeral rites of late Akeredolu kicked off with the Ajabue traditional rite in his hometown of Owo. Owo is the headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The burial rites began on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
