Many Nigerians often times have suggested that the reason thuggery is yet to come to an end in Nigeria is because of the role they play in politics.

The involvement of thugs in politics in not limited to only one state in Nigeria, in fact, more than half of the states are guilty.

Now, thugs have destroyed the Campaign Office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council Spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, made this known on Friday in a statement in Lokoja.

The Call For Peace

Fanwo accused the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of sponsoring the attack.

He urged their supporters in Dekina LGA to avoid the temptation of launching a reprisal even in the face of provocation and intimidation.

To him, APC stands for peace, and the party’s Governorship candidate, Usman Ododo, was accepted across the state.

The party spokesman added that the Legal Directorate was compiling a comprehensive report.

This is after a preliminary report had been lodged.

He said: “This is to bring to the attention of the general public and law enforcement agencies that our Campaign Office in Dekina LGA has been vandalised by hoodlums.

“We want to commend the people of Kogi East.

“For standing by the candidate, who signposts the unity of our dear state.

Also for believing in a united and prosperous state.”

SDP Denies Involvement

Reacting to the allegation of sponsoring the vandalisation, the SDP State Secretary, Arome Okeme, denied the party’s involvement.

He described it as the architect of APC trying to drag his party in the mud.

According to him, SDP and its supporters remained peaceful.

They also have full hope of victory at the November 11 Governorship Election in the state.
