The striker refuted the claims while lauding goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, for his excellent displays.

Nigeria have been impressive in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

They have made the semi-final bracket where they are scheduled to play South Africa on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles last won Afcon in 2013 when they beat Burkina Faso’s Stallions by a solitary goal scored by Sunday Mba.

The Super Eagles have won their last four games without conceding, with Nwabali playing a crucial role in helping the team achieve that run.

However, some feel Iwobi has been extra careful with his tackles in the ongoing edition as opposed to the previous one.

In the 2021 Afcon, the Arsenal graduate was sent off in the Round of 16 against Tunisia.

But when asked if that is the reason for his seemingly cautious play, the attacker denied saying he is playing his game.

“I’m just playing my game,” Iwobi told the media.

“[Nwabali] is a soldier.

“The fact that he was able to withstand that injury and fight for us shows how much he loves us and wants to fight for the country.”

Recent meetings between the two nations have been close contests, explaining why it is difficult to predict who will win the match on Wednesday.
