CSP Patrick Agbazue: Victim Recounts Ordeal In Underground Cell

Fresh details are coming out in the ongoing investigation into allegations of extrajudicial killings against some operatives of the Police Force in Anambra State.

A victim of police brutality in the state, Chisom Uche, has opened up about the issue, recounting his ordeal while in the custody of the officer-in-charge of the Rapid Response Squad, Patrick Agbazue, and his team.

CSP Patrick Agbazue was alleged to be involved in the kidnapping, torture and killing of innocent citizens in the state.

An Underground Cell

In an interview with PUNCH, Chisom insists that the police authorities should invite him and other victims of police brutality in the state to testify against the officers currently undergoing investigation.

According to him, he was arrested in 2018 while driving home with his brother who had just returned to Nigeria when the police officers stopped them.

Despite identifying themselves to the officers, they were arrested, detained, and disposed of everything they had, including hard currency.

Chisom added that many atrocities were being committed at the Awkuzu police station. He claimed that the could have been been killed.

He said: “I was also a victim of police brutality.

“I went to pick up my brother who came back from abroad in 2018 and as we were driving home, we met some police officers who stopped us at Nkwelle junction.

“After we introduced ourselves, they were not satisfied.

“They insisted we follow them to the station. Two of them were heavily armed and they jumped into our vehicle and took us to the Awkwuzu Police Station.

“We were detained unlawfully and dispossessed of everything we had, including hard currencies.

“There is an underground cell at that Awkuzu police station, where a lot of atrocities are being committed.

“We were tortured.

“If not for luck and the huge money they collected from us, we would have been killed”.
