The Lagos State Government on Monday arraigned celebrity auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna popularly known as IVD.

There is an allegation on his neck that he was responsible for his wife’s death.

He was arraigned before an Ikeja High Court over the alleged involuntary manslaughter of his wife Abimbola.

IVD pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The Mix-Up

The state counsel, Adeshola Bello, informs the court that the defendant was for arraignment.

He says there was a mix-up in the date the alleged offence was committed.

The alleged offence, she said, contravened Section 222 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

“We have on record October 10, 2022, but the actual date of the incident was October 12. We pray for the indulgence of the court to make amendment on the date,” she said.

Bail

The defense counsel, Victor Ogunde (SAN), sought a bail for the defendant, following his arraignment.

Ogunde added that the lawsuit against the defendant was with a different number.

Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay questioned the defence for bringing a bail application despite the defendant being on bail since March 1.

Commencement Of Trial

Nicole-Clay thereafter adjourned until March 30 for the commencement of trial.

Abimbola was said to have died as a result of the fire incident that occurred at the couple’s home on October 12, 2022.
