For years, he stood outside government challenging power.

Now, he is preparing to ask Nigerians to hand him power.

Sowore Secures AAC 2027 Presidential Ticket As He Pushes Message Of Political Reset

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has officially emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 general election.

The announcement was made during the party’s presidential primary held in Abuja.

Unanimous Endorsement Hands Sowore The Ticket

Sowore secured the party’s ticket after receiving unanimous backing from delegates and party leaders present at the primary.

Following the declaration, party officials presented him with the AAC flag as supporters celebrated the outcome.

The atmosphere at the venue reflected a campaign already positioning itself as an alternative to Nigeria’s traditional political establishment.

From Activism To Another Presidential Run

Accepting the nomination, Sowore said the AAC was created with a mission to build what he described as a new Nigeria.

He expressed appreciation to delegates across the country, praising their commitment, sacrifice and loyalty to the party’s vision.

For Sowore, the moment appeared less like a political promotion and more like the continuation of a movement he believes started long before the election cycle.

“Nigeria Needs Something Different”

During his remarks, Sowore repeated themes that have become central to his political message.

He argued that corruption, insecurity, poor governance and economic hardship remain major obstacles facing Nigerians.

According to him, the country cannot continue depending on what he previously described as the same political structure producing the same outcomes.

His campaign message appears built around disruption, accountability and institutional reform.

The Statement That Signalled His Return

Before the primary, Sowore had already hinted strongly that another presidential bid was coming.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, he openly confirmed his intention to contest.

At the time, however, he insisted the final decision would belong to party delegates and members.

That process has now produced its outcome.

A Familiar Candidate In A Changing Political Climate

Sowore is no stranger to presidential politics.

But 2027 may present a different environment.

Public frustration over economic pressure, governance debates and growing political realignments could reshape how smaller parties compete.

Whether AAC transforms energy into votes remains uncertain.

But one thing is becoming clearer.

Sowore is not stepping away from the national conversation.

He wants to be at the centre of it.
