Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun has spoken out about how people now handle relationship conflicts, urging a shift from blame culture towards understanding and accountability.

Social Media Fuels Blame Culture
In a post on X, he explained that social media often pushes people to pick sides whenever disagreements arise.
As a result, many users quickly label one person a victim and the other a villain without first asking what caused the problem.
Emotional Pain Cuts Both Ways
Moreover, he stressed that emotional neglect hurts deeply and betrayal also causes serious pain.
However, he insisted that one form of hurt must not justify another harmful action.

Ayo Makun Reflect On Shared Responsibility In Relationships
He argued that relationships stand a better chance of survival when both partners take responsibility for their actions.
Instead of shifting blame or turning private issues into public debates, couples should face their problems directly, he added.
In addition, Makun pointed out that social media simplifies complex situations.
It often tells stories in extremes, which makes people overlook the real details behind relationship breakdowns.
Therefore, he called for more reflection and honesty from both sides.
He said resolution becomes possible only when each person admits their part in what went wrong.
He wrote: “We have normalised choosing sides so much that we no longer ask what truly went wrong. Emotional neglect is painful.
Betrayal is painful too.
One hurt should not automatically become justification for another.
Maybe relationships would survive more if accountability was shared instead of outsourced.”
