Veteran actress Catherine O’Hara, best known for her role in the classic holiday film Home Alone, has died at the age of 71.
The Emmy Award winner passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, her manager confirmed. Details surrounding her death remain unclear.

However, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to ABC News that it received a medical aid call at about 4:48 a.m. on Friday at an address linked to the actress.
O’Hara was transported to a hospital in serious condition, according to the LAFD. No official cause of death has been disclosed.
Catherine O’Hara enjoyed a celebrated career spanning decades, earning widespread acclaim for her work in television and film.
She was especially loved for her portrayal of Kate McCallister, the devoted mother to Macaulay Culkin’s character in Home Alone, a performance that resonated deeply with audiences.
She also starred in iconic productions such as Beetlejuice and the award-winning television series Schitt’s Creek, where she played the unforgettable Moira Rose.
Following news of her passing, Macaulay Culkin took to Instagram to mourn the late actress, paying tribute to her legacy.
O’Hara is survived by her husband, Oscar-nominated production designer Bo Welch, whom she married in 1992.
