Controversial rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has raised alarm over what he described as the growing menace of cultism within the Nigerian music industry.

Reacting to the trend, the artiste claimed that only a few Nigerian musicians including himself have not joined any cult.
Also, he mocked those who allegedly seek power and protection through cult affiliations.
He noted that even the individuals who initiated them still rely on police escorts for security.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Naira Marley wrote:
“We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”
The singer has, on several occasions, denied rumours linking him to cultism.
He previously revealed that he was once threatened by cultists for refusing to join.
Also, he insisted that he has no affiliation with any cult group.
His comments have since sparked widespread debate online.
