Media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has weighed in on the ongoing comparisons between singer Wizkid and late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, insisting that the two are not on the same level.

In a video broadcast, Daddy Freeze argued that Fela’s legacy goes far beyond music, stressing that the Afrobeat legend was also a fearless activist and philanthropist who openly challenged government oppression and fought for civil rights.
According to him, Wizkid would need to take a strong stand against injustice and actively confront the government before he can be compared to Fela.
He explained that Fela’s activism and music were deeply connected and could not be separated.
Daddy Freeze recalled that Fela was once released from prison to prevent him from dying there, noting that authorities feared his death in custody would spark a nationwide uprising.
He added that Fela was not a troublemaker but a freedom fighter whose life and music stood for resistance, courage, and the people’s voice.
He concluded that any comparison with Fela must consider the totality of his impact, not just his musical success.
