Nigerian music star Davido has lost a $50,000 bet after the Super Eagles were knocked out by Morocco in the African Cup of Nations semifinal on Wednesday night, January 14, 2026.

Hours before kickoff, the singer shared his bet slip on social media, revealing he had staked $50,000 on Nigeria to defeat the Atlas Lions.
However, the highly anticipated clash ended in a goalless draw after regulation time, with Morocco eventually winning 4–2 on penalties to secure a place in the final.
Davido’s loss sparked widespread reactions online, as fans debated the unpredictable nature of football and high-stakes betting.
Meanwhile, popular Nigerian TikToker Peller also expressed frustration after losing a $3,000 bet on Nigeria to win within 90 minutes.
Speaking during a livestream on Wednesday night, January 14, 2026, Peller sarcastically thanked the Super Eagles for their performance while lamenting his loss.
“You guys were playing very well in previous games before I decided to place a bet and watch your match,” he said.
“Maybe if I stop watching your games, you’ll start playing well again.”
Despite the disappointment for bettors, many fans praised the Super Eagles for their resilience throughout the tournament, even as their AFCON journey came to an end at the semifinal stage.
