In a recent Substack post titled “I’m not scared, I promise,” the singer reflected on the emotional and physical challenges of adjusting to her new environment.

She described her New York apartment as “almost-empty” and likened the city’s weather to “a walk-in freezer,” admitting that the cold and isolation have at times taken a toll on her motivation.

The ‘Rush’ crooner revealed that she occasionally battles feelings of regret over her decision to relocate, noting that the harsh winter makes her question leaving behind the warmth and vibrancy of Lagos.

She wrote that while her peers in Nigeria were enjoying Detty December, she found herself alone in New York, confronting the realities of a bold and rebellious career move.

Despite the struggles, Ayra Starr said the experience has ushered her into what she calls her “nobody gets me era,” adding that she is no longer focused on proving herself to anyone and is embracing her personal growth.
