Nigerian reality TV star and Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has revealed that she is open to having children out of wedlock if the situation arises.
Speaking in a recent interview, Eke clarified that while she does not intend to deliberately get pregnant before marriage, she would keep the baby if it happened unexpectedly.
“I won’t go the extra mile to get pregnant out of wedlock.”
“But if it just happens, I would leave it and I would have my baby.”
“I want three kids; two girls and one boy or three girls. I love female children,” she said.
Mercy Eke argued that the stigma surrounding single motherhood does not apply to financially successful women.
According to her, women who are thriving still receive marriage proposals regardless of their status.
“The stigma of being a single mother only applies to women who don’t have things going well for them.”
“The women shattering glasses men are begging them for marriage.”
“I can get married tomorrow” if I want to. But what I want in a man, I have not seen it.”
“There are plenty of suitors… So even if I have a baby, I would still see a man,” she added.
