FAAN stepped into the spotlight this week after an online scam began circulating.
A message claimed that the authority was recruiting Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel, and many Nigerians struggling to find work eagerly clicked the link.

Unsurprisingly, the post spread quickly across social media as jobseekers shared it with friends.
FAAN Flags Fake Recruitment
However, FAAN acted fast to reveal the truth.
The authority’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, immediately clarified that the advert misled the public.
He warned people not to click the link or submit personal information, stressing that FAAN has not opened any AVSEC recruitment.

Stay Alert, Verify Opportunities
Moreover, this incident highlights a growing problem.
Scammers frequently impersonate government agencies, and Nigerians must stay vigilant.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disowned a fake recruitment campaign.
Similarly, the National Population Commission alerted the public to a counterfeit portal that falsely claimed to hire staff for the 2025 census.
Therefore, FAAN’s warning carries an important lesson: jobseekers should always verify opportunities through official government channels.
By staying cautious and informed, Nigerians can protect their personal information and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
