Popular DJ and producer, Imohiosen Patrick, better known as DJ Neptune, has voiced strong concerns about the way veteran creatives are treated in the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking in an interview with Hip TV, he criticised the trend where artistes are sidelined once they reach certain milestones, describing it as a structural problem that needs urgent attention.
According to Dj Neptune, unlike in Western music industries where veterans thrive alongside new talents, Nigeria often pushes its OGs to the background.
“In Nigeria, once you reach a certain level they push you aside like, ‘Oya go to that corner, we’re done with you.’ It’s a structural problem.”
“Abroad, the OGs are still as relevant as the newbies,” he said.
DJ Neptune also shared how he has stayed relevant over the years, noting that reinvention has been key.
“Although I don’t plan to do this all my life when it’s time to take a bow, I will.”
“But what I’ve done is knowing when it’s time to re-invent.”
“Things are changing, so you need to move with the times,” he added.
