Airtel Africa has launched a share buyback programme, and it will repurchase up to 1% of its issued capital.
The company announced this move on May 22, 2026, and Group Company Secretary Simon O’Hara signed the statement.
Management aims to return value to shareholders while it maintains flexibility for ongoing investments.

Airtel Africa Buyback Programme
Airtel Africa has appointed Barclays Capital Securities Limited to run the first tranche of purchases.
Barclays will actively buy shares on the market and transfer them back to Airtel Africa for cancellation.
The buyback splits into two parts, and each part follows a different purchase structure.
First, Barclays will independently buy $50 million to $60 million worth of shares.
Next, Airtel Africa will instruct up to $50 million in additional discretionary purchases with approval.
The programme starts immediately, and it will run until November 27, 2026.
However, the company may end it earlier depending on market conditions.
After purchase, Airtel Africa will cancel all shares, and it will reduce its capital base.
As a result, the cancellation will improve earnings per share and capital efficiency.
Moreover, the company follows UK Listing Rules and Market Abuse Regulations throughout the process.
In addition, Airtel Africa may launch further tranches to reach its full 1% target.
