Many Nigerians have criticised popular fuji musician Taye Currency for the lyrics he performed at the coronation ceremony of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
During the event, Taye Currency sang the controversial line, *“were la fi n wo were”* (translated as “we used insanity to cure insanity”)

This song quickly triggered backlash and pushed him to the top trends on X (formerly Twitter).
Oba Rashidi Ladoja was officially installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland today, two months after the passing of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The grand ceremony drew high-profile dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Soun of Ogbomoso.
Also, Oba Ghandi Adeoye, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade.
The controversial performance has since overshadowed the celebration.
