Also, Ogun State Senators Salisu Afolabi, Daniel Olugbenga, and Adeola Olamilekan voted for Akpabio over Yari.

Akpabio was chosen Senate President of the Tenth Senate on Tuesday after competing against Yari, both members of the All Progressives Congress.

Following that, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State was sworn in.

Senators were called out according to their states to cast their ballots in a secret ballot system, but their names were printed on the ballot papers.

Critics consider adding the name of voter a bad decision that could trigger victimisation.
