Portable is a Nigerian singer popularly known for being audacious and outspoken.
The zazuu crooner is loved my many for his hit songs and jovial nature in his videos which send fans reeling in laughter.
But recently, a post appeared to have pitched his performance only for other public places and not in a church.
That post shared by a cleric of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) on Facebook, was an announcement for a programme.
A flyer was attached showing Portable and Fuji singer, Alabi Pasuma as guest performers in the praise event.
However, this sparked rage from netizens, with many saying secular artists should not be invited to perform in gospel programmes.
Indeed, the church came under fire for inviting Portable and Fuji singer, Pasuma, to its praise night scheduled to hold on December 15, 2023.
Also, after public outrage, Celestial Church leader, Olatosho Oshoffa, clarified things in a Facebook post.
He announced that Portable and Pasuma would no longer be present at the occasion.
Reacting to this, Portable, in a viral video, stated that he must perform at the church, adding that he was paid ₦5,000,000 for his performance.
Additionally, speaking in Yoruba language, Portable pleaded acceptance to perform.
The singer said the church should not castigate but accept him as one of their own despite his nature.
”People of the celestial church, we will do this show, Pasuma and I will come and perform. You have paid me.
“The children of God are coming, don’t judge me with my look.”
What will you do if you walk into a church and find Portable singing praises to God? Will you judge him instantly or just praise God?
