Few days after being sworn-in as the president of the most populous black nation on earth, an advocacy group has called on Nigerian president to probe his predecessor.

It was gathered that the former president had illegally withdrawn public funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), causing the nation’s foreign reserves to shrink to $35.15 billion.

According to data obtained from the CBN, as at last Thursday, May 25, Nigeria’s foreign reserves stands at $35.15 billion, which is the lowest level in 20 months.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), demanded that President Tinubu “name and shame all those involved in the illegal withdrawal carried out by the immediate past president from the CBN and bring them to book.”

The stand of the advocacy group was made via its Twitter handle @serapnigeria on June 1, 2023.

Considering that Nigeria’s foreign reserve is at it’s lowest level in 20 months, the big question remains, “will Tinubu probe Buhari?”
