President Bola Tinubu’s administration is focused on achieving a double-digit economic growth, Atiku Bagudu, said.
The president believes that if other countries can do it, then Nigeria can also achieve it.
Indeed, the mass of Nigerians wallow in abject poverty occasioned by the gross mismanagement of public funds by office holders. Sadly, this has resulted in inflation.
While people look for the seed of equivalent benefit in the adjustments they are making as a result of subsidy removal, the newly sworn in Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, is givign them assurance.
He says the current administration would strive to achieve a double-digit economic growth.
An Inclusive Growth
Bagudu, after assuming office on Tuesday, said double-digit economic growth is the goal of President Bola Tinubu.
He added that the growth would be inclusive of every part of the country.
“The president has always been emphatic that if other countries have done it, why not us.
“Why not a double-digit growth that is inclusive for all? Why can’t we have an economy that promotes and rewards competition and effort?
“We have seen bold and courageous efforts from the president to reposition Nigeria’s economy and achieve our economic objectives.

“Institutional arrangements that will lead us to achieve double-digit growth like other countries have done are also being made.”
Merging Functions
The minister also stated that the ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, is central to the government achieving the double-digit economic growth.
According to him, there is the need to merge functions of the National Planning Commission and the Budget Office of the Federation under the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
He believes it is a major policy change that the President is introducing.

He added that the framework for coordinating, planning and budgeting roles within the ministry was to develop an appropriate institutional framework to effectively operationalise them.
“We will give major emphasis to delivering the promise of the president economic growth and improve the livelihood of all Nigerians,” he added.
