Earlier reports say, the politician was arrested on the orders of the deputy governor of Edo State, Hon Philip Shaibu.

You may not know, but Tenebe was arrested in his Ikabigbo home town, Etsako West local government area.

His arrest comes less than 48 hours before the Edo State House of Assembly election on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

However, a later report reveals that Tenebe’s arrest was for illegal possession of firearms and invasion of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Edo.

Chris Nehikhare, says Tenebe was arrested alongside one Akeem Zibiri, a retired officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Nehikhare is the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation.

He disclosed this in a statement made available to Vanguard on Thursday.

To him, “the two adults were arrested on Thursday morning after allegedly leading some thugs to the premises of the INEC located in Etsako West.

That was where the Police apprehended them.

“The thugs were led on a mission to loot and tamper with sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s House of Assembly elections in Edo State.”
