The DSS detained Tomi and his wife because they were supposedly on their watchlist because of a sermon the clergyman gave in public.

He claimed that the secret police also took their private information without giving them any explanation for why they had been detained.

They were arrested after disembarking from their 9:00am Ibom Air flight from Lagos to the Federal Capital Territory on Friday.

Arayomi’s twin brother, Tobi Arayomi, hinted on the development via his Instagram page, @tobiarayomi, on Friday.

According to Tobi, his brother was apprehended by the DSS operatives over politics-related prophecies he made.

His Arrest

Arayomi detailed their ordeal in a lengthy statement he posted on his verified Twitter account on Sunday.

He claimed that six DSS officers arrested them and took them to the agency’s main office after compelling them to hand up all of their technology.

“Tomiarayomi, Prophetess Tahmar and I would like to express our gratitude for all of your prayers and global support during Friday’s ordeal with the DSS,” the statement’s opening line reads.

“We can confirm that on Good Friday, April 7, we travelled to Abuja to visit one of our branches when we were met by roughly six armed individuals who did not identify themselves as DSS or any other law enforcement agency.

“My wife, I, and my assistant Emmanuel Ezerika were made to give up our mobile phones and board the vans before being driven quickly to what we later identified as DSS HQ. The officers weren’t immediately recognised as DSS, even though some of them had balaclavas on,” he wrote.

He added that the DSS had taken some of their personal information and had locked them up without telling them why they were being detained.

“Our pictures, fingerprints, and data were taken, and we were locked in a room without knowing the real reason behind our arrest,” he stated.

“It appears that media and social media pressure persuaded DSS to release my wife and I after a protracted interrogation.

“My assistant is still in DSS custody, and DSS has so far been evasive regarding his precise whereabouts. As we are still expecting the safe release of my assistant, we won’t discuss the specifics of the investigation just yet.
