As a result, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is beginning the process of getting a grip on the political system again.

You see, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to conduct governorship election in some states in Nigeria because they have a different schedule. This is due to litigation and court rulings.

November 11 is another governorship elections date set by INEC.

It promises to be a fierce battle, as many big shots in the political arena battle for the governorship seat of these states.

Political parties have started screening their candidates. They want to select the best candidate for the election.

This is because the February 25, presidential election and March 18 governorship election had come as an eye-opener for many Nigerians.

Nigerians now know what they want and they are not willing to compromise.

PDP Screening

As a result, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has started the screening of aspirants for the Imo, and Kogi governorship elections.

The screening for the governorship aspirants was conducted at various venues on Saturday.

It is part of PDP’s preparations for the November 11 elections.

The PDP Governorship Screening Committee for Kogi State screened and cleared the former lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, for the poll.

Also, the PDP screening committee screened and cleared the National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, for the Imo governorship election.

PDP Screens, Clears Diri For Bayelsa Governorship Election

Also the PDP Governorship Screening Committee for Bayelsa State, screened and cleared Senator Douye Diri for the November 11 governorship election in the state.

Diri was the only aspirant from the party that picked the PDP nomination and expression of interest forms.

The chairman of the screening committee and Edo State deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, says Diri was screened in line with the guidelines of the party and as stipulated in the electoral law.

The screening exercise in Bayelsa took place at the PDP headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Shaibu says the Bayelsa governor met all the requirements of the party for the election.
