Angry protesters in Oyo have broken into the State Secretariat in Ibadan to protest the fuel and currency scarcity that has crippled businesses and the economy.

An armed police officer attached to the governor’s office was reportedly injured by the angry protesters.

At the beginning of the attack, the security operatives were said to have repelled the attacks, further angering the protesters.

The protesters were said to have begun to attack the secretariat with sticks, wood, and other dangerous weapons while forcing the two main gates open.

The crowd reportedly forced the security operatives on the ground to take cover.

Prior to the attack on the governor’s office, the protesters were said to have taken to the streets with placards bearing different inscriptions, blocking the ever-busy Iwo road, lamenting the current situation in the country.

Nigerians have been battling with fuel and new naira notes scarcity across the nation and president Muhammadu Buhari has promised to fix it in seven days.
