One staffer has suffered injuries while inspecting a letter bomb delivered to the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid.
A police source revealed, “National Police were informed around 1:00 pm (12:00 GMT) of an explosion at the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid. It happened when one of the embassy employees was handling a letter,” the source said on Wednesday.
“This employee was injured, apparently lightly, and he went himself to a hospital,” the source added.

The foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko also confirmed that the injured staffer is not in danger.
βThe embassy of Ukraine in Spain received an envelope. During the inspection, the envelope exploded in the hands of the commandant. The commandant suffered minor injuries and is not hospitalized, receiving the necessary medical attention. There is no threat to his life.β
Asides from the commandant, no other workers were injured by the letter bomb, and fire services, and Spanish Law Enforcement are working at the site.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba ordered the tightening of security at all Ukrainian embassies asking Spain to investigate the blast, as soon as possible.
He said, β Whoever was behind the organization of this explosion will not succeed in intimidating Ukrainian diplomats or stopping their daily work on strengthening Ukraine and countering Russian aggression.β
